- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Brevity

Search engines seek out keywords associated with the type of organization or business you represent. But, the use of relevant and repeated keywords associated with your organization or business is not enough. Keywords and quality content help attract quality inbound links. Moreover, quality content and keywords attract search engine attention, such as Google.
Google is very forthright about SEO. Visit Google Webmaster Central and read Google's guidelines and suggestions and learn how to SEO your Website for free!
Brevity
Use a clear, concise and active voice.
Additionally, quality content must engage and precisely target a specific topic.
Billboard design
Web users click around quickly. They scan and don’t always read everything on the page. As such, write as if the visitor is passing by your website at 60 mph.
In those few seconds, the scanned written content should tell the visitor what your organization offers, why they should stay on your Website and persuade the visitor to a call-to-action; meaning, contact your organization.
Steve Krug discusses this subject pithily in his book called Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability.
